Project Background and Objective

The National Single Window (NSW) Project introduces an electronic platform streamlining the import and export process by providing a singular access point for all related statutory requirements.

The core objective of NSW is to furnish a more efficient and standardized framework for international trade procedures. This encompasses collaborations between the private sector and border control agencies responsible for issuing related permits. By capitalizing on information and communication technology (ICT), NSW offers online accessibility for these border control processes.

Moreover, NSW empowers traders and service providers with electronic transaction capabilities and will champion the sharing of harmonized data for seamless processing across various IT systems. This initiative resonates with the government’s agenda of enhancing trade facilitation.

The project is aligned with the following impacts: (i) Top 40 ranking on the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index achieved by 2025; and (ii) Faster, cheaper, and more predictable cross-border trade in the South Asia Sub Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) sub region.
