The Government of the Republic of Maldives has received grant funds from the World Bank, towards the cost of Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration and Sustainable Energy (ARISE) Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to eligible payments under the contract for the services of a Legal Specialist for the Project Management Unit (PMU).

The Ministry invites interested eligible Individuals to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOI). Interested individuals must provide their CV with information demonstrating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.) covering the Key Qualifications.

The key qualifications are:

• Minimum a Master’s Degree in Law and have 7 years of specific experience in providing legal advisory services within Maldives, particularly in commercial aspects;

AND

• Should have a good grasp of the commercial laws applicable to the Maldives relevant as per project overview given above.
• Experience in providing legal advisory for investment projects, donor funded projects and experience in international commercial transactions in the areas of Public Private Partnership (PPP) in particular energy projects including renewables energy would be considered as an added advantage.

Successful candidate will be paid a negotiable fee depending on qualification and experience. The individual for this position will be hired, for a period of Twelve (12) months on a time-based contract and may be extended for a further period, based on need and performance.

The Consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in The World Bank Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers; Procurement in Investment Project Financing Goods, Works, Non-Consulting and Consulting Services; July 2016; Revised November 2017 and August 2018.
