REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Services of a Naval Architect/Engineer for the supervision of marine vessel construction projects under MCEP
The Government of the Republic of Maldives has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Saafu Raajje - Maldives Clean Environment Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for the services of a Naval Architect/Engineer for the supervision of marine vessel construction projects under MCEP.
To be eligible for the position, the individual is expected to demonstrate the following:
a) A Master’s degree or higher in Marine Engineering or a related field.
b) Must have professional work experience of minimum ten (10) years and field experience of marine vessel inspections and audits of minimum five (5) years and having inspected and/or supervised the design or manufacture of at least ten (10) vessels. Having experience in the design and manufacture or inspection and audits of waste collection vessels or landing crafts will be an added advantage.
c) Possess sound knowledge of design and construction standards for marine vessels both locally and internationally.
d) Should have excellent command over English with proven communication and, presentation and interpersonal skills
e) Specific experience in designing and supervision of waste transfer vessels and/or research vessels
f) Should be able to work for extended periods without direct supervision
The Ministry of Environment now invites selected individual consultants to submit their “Expression of Interest” (EOI) for providing the services. Interested individual consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services along with the following documents:
- Updated CV
- Details of relevant experience with regard to the assignment (with supporting docs)
- ID card / Passport copy

The attention of interested consulting individual is drawn to paragraphs 3.14, 3.16, 3.17 and 3.18 of the World Bank Procurement Regulations for Borrowers under Investment Project Financing, dated July 1, 2016, setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Individual Consultant method set out in the Procurement Regulations for Borrowers under Investment Project Financing, dated July 1, 2016.
Expressions of interest must be delivered by email by 1300 hrs. Maldivian time on Tuesday, July 14th 2020.
