Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced laboratory manager for a regional water quality laboratory based in S.Hithadhoo.

Qualification and Experience required

  • Masters or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, environmental engineering or related scientific field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a laboratory manager.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance, certifying instrument performance, arranging equipment replacement, service and repair;
  • Familiarize with EPA guidelines and standards for quality and ensure water quality from branches operated by the company is up to the EPA standard;
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies via head office, verifying receipt of supplies;
  • Maintain laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas, identifying peak and slack periods and making operational and staffing adjustments;
  • Maintain quality results by participating in quality assurance programs, consulting with other laboratory managers, performing proficiency surveys, reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs, making adjustments in policy and procedures, generating reports, maintaining records and reporting to head office in a timely manner;
  • Maintain laboratory information system by identifying information needs and problems, recommending improvements, establishing priorities, testing, writing user manuals, training employees, maintain security and confidentiality;
  • Implements new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives, preparing proposals, developing and performing parallel testing and monitoring progress;
  • Maintain laboratory staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees from other regions;
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results;
  • Maintain laboratory staff results by counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring and appraising job results
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies;
  • Conduct training programs for laboratory technicians and assistants from other regions as directed by the head office;
  • Providing administrative support to the laboratory and the head office;
  • Contribute to generating more income to the company via testing samples from other parties; and
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Position Summary

We are seeking hardworking, enthusiastic laboratory technicians for a regional water quality laboratory based in S.Hithadhoo.

Qualification and Experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree or advance diploma in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, environmental engineering, related scientific field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a laboratory technician, laboratory analyst or laboratory assistant.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory analysis on water samples received to the laboratory;
  • Bring water samples by informing the island branches and performing routine analysis of water samples from islands operated by the company as per EPA operating license guideline;
  • Organize work by matching sample labeling, checking labeling, logging water samples, arranging reports for delivery and keeping work surfaces clean and orderly;
  • Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced trouble shooting, calibrating equipment, utilizing approved testing procedures as well as monitoring quality control measures and protocols;
  • Serve as technical resource by participating in staff training, answering questions of other professionals, participating in educational opportunities and government workshops, reading professional publications and maintaining personal networks;
  • Identify and communicate contaminated water quality parameters by alerting supervisory personnel at the head office;
  • Maintain company reputation by keeping laboratory information confidential;
  • Serve and protect the company staff by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and EPA standards;
  • Enhance laboratory services and company reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
  • Providing administrative support to the laboratory and the head office;
