LEARN TOGETHER – FAM GIRLS ACADEMY PROGRAM

Criteria for Affiliation

The Learn Together – FAM Girls Academy Program will be delivered in partnership with selected clubs, academies, and schools. To become an official program partner, applicants must meet the minimum affiliation requirements established by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

1. Organization Eligibility

Applicants must be one of the following:

  • A registered football club

  • A registered football academy

  • A school recognized by the relevant authorities

2. Commitment to Girls Football

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to the development of girl’s football.

  • Commit to delivering the program throughout the approved affiliation period.

  • Promote inclusion, equal opportunity, participation, and a positive football environment for girls.

3. Player & Program Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Register a minimum of 20 girls in the program.

  • Provide 2 training sessions and 1 Match Day per week.

  • Match Day activities may commence from the second month of the program.

  • Organize players into appropriate age and development groups: (U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, and U16 )

  • Maintain accurate player registration and attendance records.

4. Coaching & Player Development Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Appoint a dedicated Program Head/Coordinator responsible for the overall delivery of the program.

  • Have at least one coach holding a minimum AFC/FAM C Coaching Certificate, or an equivalent qualification recognized by FAM.

  • Have an established long-term player development program with a minimum duration of two (2) years.

  • Deliver training and Match Day activities in accordance with FAM technical guidelines.

  • Ensure relevant coaches participate in FAM technical workshops, coach education, and development activities when required.

5. Facilities & Equipment

Applicants must:

  • Have regular access to a suitable and safe training and playing area.

  • Ensure facilities are appropriate for the age and number of participating players.

  • Properly use, maintain, and account for equipment provided by FAM under the program.

6. Safeguarding & Player Welfare

Applicants must:

  • Comply with the FAM Safeguarding Policy and all program safeguarding requirements.

  • Appoint a Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO).

  • Ensure coaches, staff, and volunteers complete all safeguarding requirements determined by FAM.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment for all participants.

7. Administration, Monitoring & Reporting

Applicants must:

  • Register all participating players as required by FAM.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and activity records.

  • Submit required reports and supporting documentation within FAM deadlines.

  • Cooperate with FAM technical, operational, and safeguarding monitoring visits.

  • Provide program information required by FAM for monitoring and evaluation.

8. FAM Support to Affiliated Partners

To support the successful delivery of the Learn Together – FAM Girls Academy Program, FAM will provide selected affiliated partners with technical and equipment support.

Subject to program requirements and availability, FAM will provide:

  • Playing jerseys for participating girls.

  • Training bibs.

  • Footballs suitable for the relevant age groups.

  • Training equipment, including cones, markers, and other essential equipment required for program delivery.

  • Technical guidance and support for the implementation of the program.

  • Coach education and development opportunities.

  • Safeguarding guidance and support.

  • Regular monitoring and technical assistance throughout the affiliation period.

Equipment provided through the program shall be used primarily for the delivery of Learn Together activities and must be properly maintained by the affiliated partner.

9. Affiliation Assessment & Selection

FAM will assess applications based on:

  • Compliance with the affiliation criteria

  • Experience in player development

  • Technical and operational capacity

  • Coaching structure

  • Safeguarding readiness

  • Facilities and resources

  • Commitment to girls football development

  • Ability to sustain the program

For the 2026 pilot phase, FAM will select up to six (6) partnersfrom eligible applicants.

Meeting the minimum affiliation criteria does not automatically guarantee selection. FAM reserves the right to select applicants based on the overall quality of applications, program objectives, available resources, and the requirements of the pilot phase.

10. Affiliation Agreement

Successful applicants will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FAM and will be recognized as official Learn Together – FAM Girls Academy Program Partners for the approved affiliation period. Continued affiliation will be subject to satisfactory program delivery, compliance with FAM technical and safeguarding requirements, timely reporting, and the outcomes of FAM monitoring and evaluation.
