Professor

A single room apartment for employees will be provided by the University. Where in house accommodation is not available, an Accommodation Allowance based on the position recruited will be given and assistance to find an appropriate accommodation will be provided.

Education and Experience:

EDUCATION: Criteria 1:

MD or MS (MNQF 9) or equivalent postgraduate degree in a respective field after completion of MBBS or BDS** (MNQF 7).

 

EDUCATION: Criteria 2:

MSc Specialization or equivalent postgraduate degree in a respective field after completion of MBBS or BDS** or BSc in respective specialization.

 

EXPERIENCE: N/A

 

OR

 

EDUCATION Criteria 3:

MD or MS (MNQF 9) or equivalent postgraduate degree in a clinical subject after completion of MBBS (MNQF 7).

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-year Fulltime experience in the respective department of a recognized hospital.

Lecturer

 

Must fulfill Criteria 01 or Criteria 02 plusPHD or equivalent (MNQF 10) in respective Specialization field.

 

EXPERIENCE: N/A

Senior Lecturer /Assistant Professor

Must fulfill Criteria 01 or Criteria 02 plusPHD or equivalent (MNQF 10) in respective Specialization field

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5-years’ experience in subject teaching or clinical in the respective field.

 

OTHERS: Minimum 5 publications (books with ISBN) or research publication (at journals with ISSN); AND experience in module/course curriculum development; AND proven ability to score minimum 300 points in Category 3 of The University’s Academic Performance Policy.

Associate Professor

 

Must fulfill Criteria 01 or Criteria 02 plusPHD or equivalent (MNQF 10) in respective Specialization field

 

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10-years’ experience in subject teaching or clinical in respective specialization field.

 

OTHERS: Minimum 10 publications (books with ISBN) or research publication (at Journals with ISSN); AND experience in module/course curriculum development; AND proven ability to score minimum 400 points in Category 3 of The University’s Academic Performance Policy.

Professor

  • At recruitment, first preference may be given to Criteria 1 and followed by the others in order as suited by the selection committee depending on the pool of applicants and quality of applicants.
  • In addition to basic job specification, all members of the faculty must be registered with Maldives Medical and Dental Council and have the license to practice in health care facilities.
  • Members of the faculty must be committed to continue professional development and in enhancing the capabilities of effective teaching.
  • It is essential for the academic staff to have the required academic qualification for the discipline they are teaching in as specified in the job specification, and to also have expertise in one or more subdivisions or specialties within that discipline, as well as research capabilities.
  • It is expected that teachers must contribute to the advancement of knowledge and to the intellectual growth of their students through the scholarly activity of research and continuing education.

Additional Requirements:

  • Develop teaching materials and conduct lectures according to the course syllabus and scheme of work
  • Assess students’ coursework assignment and setting and marking examinations
  • Support students through a pastoral or advisory role and monitor the performance and progress of the students
  • Prepare feedback to management on course proceedings and continual improvement of the student performance
  • Coordinate course or subjects
  • Carry out departmental administrative tasks, such as student admissions, induction programmes and involvement in committees, boards, and other professional activities
  • Assist the management in preparing policies and curriculum development
  • Undertake research projects and actively contribute to the research profile of the  University; supervise student research projects.
